“Oh, I’m not taking your side.” Tick Tock replied absently, having found a particularly suspicious shadow near the other end of the cemetery to stare at. “I’m just so fucking bored, and I have a feeling that you guys are gonna give me something to shoot at.” Kind of like Gabriel, it was hard to determine the younger man’s age…which was one reason why his current employers valued his services. He was efficient, he was quiet, and by God, he was untraceable. Being unmerciful and quite insane was just a plus, he supposed.
Dean, with a roll of his eyes, took a step forward in an attempt to cut the other man out of the conversation. Really. If someone wanted to have a nice, sane exchange, they did not involve the happy little murderer, thank you very much. “Demons do exist, I can assure you.” The hunter replied, eyes flashing a bit. It was obvious that this particular subject was of some irritation…and who could blame him? Walk up to any seemingly ‘normal’ individual and tell them that you hunt ghosts and demons for a living, and what do they do? They call the damn men with the white coats on your tail, that’s what. So excuse him if he was a bit touchy about his job. “And there’s one very dangerous one in particular haunting this cemetery tonight. So, Rune, Gabriel” He nodded quickly at her, then at Gabriel. “You have to leave. Just put this name hunting off for tomorrow; sunlight isn’t their friend. It doesn’t burn them to a crisp like it does to vampires, but they’re not as strong, then.”
“The lunatic is Dean,” Tick Tock, his beady eyes still locked on that shadow- it moved, he KNEW it moved- said absently. “And I’m Tick Tock the Time Bomb. Or just Ticky. Whatever. Hmm.” Moving a bit to the side, his hand reaching slowly to the holster at his back, a slow, gleeful smile began to spread across his face. “I think it’s too late to run, Boss. Oh, Gabriel,” He fluttered his eyes at the man, a strangle little sparkle to them. “You can pull out those guns of yours again. I think we have company.”

"Well I'm interested now, so there's little chance of getting me out of here," Gabriel said in a droll tone, his hand twitching a little as it rested just above his holster. "Of course, I won't truly believe it until I see it, but I've seen a bit of unbelievable stuff so far. I'm open to new experiences." When you had a day job as an assassin for eight years, it was a bit difficult to avoid the weird things, especially when you were given utter raving loonies as targets. Though utter raving loonies didn't look like either of the two in front of him (fine, that was a lie - that Ticky looked quite pyschotic, but whatever). "Give up the whole trying to chase us off thing. You're stuck with us."
"Company?" Rune's voice was perfectly impassive. This, to her, proved that she had some acting skills, because she felt far from impassive and collected. She didn't feel nervous either. She felt like she was about to jump off a cliff into the sea. A mix of impending adrenaline and possible regret. She took out her Glock as Gabriel flicked out his Desert Eagle, flinching momentarily as sharp bursts of pain shot through her head. She'd been getting them all evening, but now it was just hell in her head.
Gabriel, obviously, noticed the flinch, but didn't comment. He frowned at the shadow that Ticky was staring at, unsure of what he was supposed to be looking out. However, when it moved, just a touch, Gabriel was put on alert. Rune had seen it too; the safety came off on both guns.
"Just out of interest, do normal bullets work on demons?" Rune asked casually. "Or is there a requirement for silver bullets and the like? I'm not taking the piss, by the by. Serious question." Her grip faltered on the gun as she experieced more pain, grinding her teeth together to bite back a groan. Somehow, she didn't have a very good feeling about this demon, because she was starting to believe that it really was there.

Well, after tonight, poor Gabriel just might be questioning if said ‘loonies’ were as crazy as he’d first thought them to be. Dean had learned first hand not to judge a book by its cover. It just might go all ‘Army of Darkness’ on a guy, and bite their fingers off. Ouchies.
Ticky, smile turning a bit sadistic, traced the outline of his gun through his coat. “Honey, darling, babycakes,” He drawled, beady eyes flickering to the assassin for a moment. “If we wanted you to leave, you’d be gone. Trust me on that. Now shut up all of you, I have to listen a bit.” Lips pursing, he closed his eyes, seeming to go still as stone.
Dean, not used to the soldier’s antics, made to move forward toward the shadow, slowly bringing out his pearl handled pistol. Before he could make it two steps, however, Ticky’s hand came sweeping out, hitting him square in the chest. Damn, the skinny boy could move. “The particular demon we’re hunting can only be killed by one gun,” The Hunter replied, voice soft. “And I only have two bullets for it. I doubt its lurking here in plain sight. It’s probably just one of its lackies here, looking for souls to collect. We can just—“ Whatever plan he was about to divulge was swallowed as, with a loud squeal, Tick Tock took off, shouldering passed Gabriel and Rune. Surprise froze him to the spot for a second, and he stared at the younger man’s receding back. Insanity, thy name is Ticky. With a growl, he took off after the soldier, holding his gun at waist level; steady and ready for action.
“Finally, some action!” Ticky crowed happily. His dark eyes were locked on a shadow, moving suspiciously fast toward a row of mausoleums. “First shot’s mine, and whoever gets the kill gets free drinks! I LOVE this job!”

Gabriel wasn't particularly scared about getting his fingers bitten off. Probably because he wouldn't let anything go near his fingers with teeth on show. A bit cautious about that and stuffs.
Both Rune and Gabriel were quiet listening along as well, though at first, neither of them could hear anything. They then continued to not hear anything, with their eyes trained on the still shuddering shadow. It looked like it was bulging out slightly at one side, and the bulge seemed to be moving every so often. This obviously struck both Rune and Gabriel as odd, but the first thought that came to Gabriel was the thought of the film "Alien". Trust Gabriel to completely go off subject momentarily.
As Dean was about to finish his sentence, Ticky suddenly barrelled past Gabriel and Rune, making Rune stumble back somewhat and making Gabriel grin somewhat. He followed after Ticky, his gun raised, his steps light and professional. Rune rolled her eyes, wondering why the hell she was friends with a twenty eight year old who acted more or less like a twelve year old kid. It was a bit worrying, to be perfectly honest, but Rune didn't actually think that much of it often. That was mainly because Rune usually wasn't in such an odd mood. Her head was hurting like hell.
But now wasn't the time to bother with headaches.
She went after Dean, hearing Gabriel shout, "You're on!" in response to Ticky's free drinks comment. Yet again she rolled her eyes, catching up with Dean, tapping him gently on the shoulder. "You were saying? We can just what?" She was getting a touch frustrated and a touch freaked out now. She'd seen the shadow moving irregularly, but still. She was chasing a demon with an irritable Hunter, a psycho Solider and a hyper ex-Assassin. That in itself was just plain unusual.
No kidding.

Oh GOD, his ribs! Of fucking course that little shit Tick Tock had to go and shove him RIGHT THERE. If there was a Heaven and a Hell- which he knew there was; he was chasing a demon, after all- he was going to make sure that the Above knew all about his ‘little friend’, and Below had a nice cell waiting for him once the Hunter ripped his fool head off of his shoulders. All in all, Dean was not having a very good day. On all accounts, it was probably a terrible, horrible, no good, very FUCKING bad day. …Excuse the French, of course.
“I was going to say ‘we can just wait for the thing to find us’, but that isn’t happening right now.” Dean growled in reply, dark eyes flashing almost ethereally in the dim lighting. “I KNEW I shouldn’t have brought the little psycho with me, but I thought I’d need the firepower. I hope you know how to use that thing, Miz Rune. ‘Cause if it really is our target, I’m gonna need a hell of a distraction to kill it.”
Laughing like a lunatic, Tick Tock zoomed after that moving shadow, his eyes trained on its dark form like a dog on its favorite chew toy. It had been four painful hours since he’d gotten to shoot anything, and he was starting to get antsy. For a good five minutes, he ran, forgetting for a moment that there were people behind him- and next to him; cool, finally a guy who could keep up with him- in order to concentrate on the movements of this elusive little guy. …So elusive, in fact, that he ended up losing it in a circle of mausoleums. “Aw, dammit.” He growled, stopping in the middle of one row. “I lost visual. We’d better group up, just in case it comes out at us.” Turning to Gabriel, he cast an impressed little once-over over the man before turning back to the darkness around them. “Glad to see someone can keep up. Any shadow moves that ain’t one of our friends, you shoot. Got it?” Yep, Ticky was in full operative mode. Greaaat.

"Of course I can use it," Rune snapped. "I wouldn't bloody well be waving it around otherwise. And it's just Rune. Or De Royteur, if you must. Nothing else." She fought back the temptation to shoot Dean in the hand or foot just to prove it, but relented, considering that that was probably not such a good idea, as without Dean, she'd prolly be mincemeat. After all, Ticky and Gabriel had already run off somewhere. She could definitely hear them, but she also definitely couldn't see them. "I'll provide a distraction," she then added, almost reluctantly. "I'm sure Ticky and Gabriel will input something helpful too. Just expect no damsel in distress stuff from me. That's more Gabriel's scene."
"Fuck off," came an irritable reply back. Rune didn't hold back her grin. "I watched "The Village" with you and you were shrieking like five year old kid." The grin disappeared, but no answer was issued.
Gabriel, now spurred even more by his apparently witty comment, grinned lazily at Ticky in response to his remark. He also nodded, and while his expression stayed nonchalant and excitable, his eyes were sharp and alert. He turned from Ticky, training his gun onto potential areas that could prove dangerous.
"Moving equals dangerous. Got it. As for keeping up, you can count on that. I may be getting on just a little bit - well, not really but whatever - but I'm fitter than your avergae football player. Old jobs that include these kinds of situations really do equip you well for the future, ne?" One of Gabriel's talents, apart from the whole gun-toting-assassin-thing, was rambling. He turned any internal fears or anxieties into words, and those words then came out. It was a good way to relax. Gabriel wasn't a natural at this, it had to be said, but he was damn good at acting it.
"So," Rune began, "are there any specific distractions that you have in mind? I personally would like to know a little more about the demon, because I won't be pleased if it suddenly pops up in front of me because it can move at the speed of light and I'm not anticipating it." She flexed her fingers. "Not to mention I'm already a touch on edge, and I won't deny it."
Honest as ever, even when feeling like she could bitch slap just about anyone that came into sight.

“I’m not telling you that you have to be the damn distraction, Rune,” Dean growled in response. Shutting his eyes for a moment, he took a few deep breaths, he moved slowly, carefully through the dark cemetery. His side felt like it was on fire, and there were little dots dancing around in front of his eyes, but hell if he was going to pass out now. He’d been after this particular bad guy for almost a year now, and if this were really him…? He could finally be done with it all; kill the bastard, avenge his family, protect his brother. The rest of the world he could give two shits about, but this thing had killed his father, and was threatening his brother; two things that could not be forgiven. Yeah…some people put all of their energy into their kids, or collecting stamps, but Dean? The Hunter lived for one thing, and one thing only: his family. Without them, he was nothing. Which was why, way, WAY in back of his mind, he was afraid that if this were really his demon, he’d have nothing to tie him to his brother anymore. Their lives would separate, as they had years ago, and he’d be alone. On his own. With no purpose. In short, it was a fate worse than death.
Tick Tock, only half listening to Gabriel, grunted something unintelligible as he searched for that damn shadow. Hell if he was gonna be made to wait and do nothing again. It’d been two hours since he’d gotten to shoot something, for crying out loud! This was just friggin torture! “The demon’s supposedly the thing that killed Dean’s father and is ruining his brother’s life.” The soldier called out, frowning as his voice echoed. Perhaps the noise would confuse the thing; make him believe that there was more than four people after it. Distraction…hmm.
“Shut up, Tick Tock.” Dean called in reply, dark eyes popping open to glare at the space in front of him.
“Yeah, yeah. Shut up, Ticky, kill that demon for me, Ticky. You’re a friggin slave driver, Winchester. I don’t know why I put up with your scrawny ass.” Grinning at the indigent squawk that followed, he snaked a glance at the ex-assassin. What would have been a casual shrug of his shoulders to any normal person was really a ‘watch your nine; beastie ahead’. Hopefully, Gabriel would catch it and start shooting. Rune and Dean were behind them…so what was that thing moving around over there? Finally, fun!

“You were implying it, Winchester,” Rune snarled back to him. As pissed off as she was, she followed him nonetheless as he began to move through the cemetery again. She remained silent for a while, calming herself, letting out the pent up frustration. She counted to fifteen – five extra seconds for extra effect – before she spoke again. “So what does this demon do? You still haven’t told me. Or Gabriel, for that matter. What about it do we have to avoid?”
Rune was barely expecting an answer, to be perfectly honest. Then again, if Dean didn’t want anyone dying on him tonight, adding to his workload, then he might want to give them an explanation of sort. Of course, Rune wasn’t really planning on dying anytime soon. She would be much more content with dying after she had remembered at least some of her past. It was the kind of thing that spurred her to live and do reckless things, almost just to prove that she could survive.
She hated talking about families. It was selfish, but she preferred to hear about dysfunctional families as opposed to hearing about happy, working families that were bonded and got along well with each other. She supposed the only person she had close to family was Gabriel, and probably the only reason they really got along because Hikari, Gabriel’s younger sister, was somewhat estranged from Gabriel with her cold demeanour. Rune felt so alone and insignificant when she heard elder siblings bragging about their younger sibling’s first piano recital or whatever.
That wasn’t to say that Rune didn’t want a family. She did. She wanted that more than anything. To know that somewhere she had a family was good enough. She wanted to start a family too. That would be something to challenge her, because she was so used to having the company of really only one other person.
Gabriel had more or less picked up on Ticky’s motive for being loud. At the sound of the sound from Dean, he snorted, hearing a small high pitched giggle from Rune, followed by “What the hell was that?” from her. He looked back to Ticky, catching the glance, shrugging back to signify that he understood. Despite not being in the military, he had been trained like a soldier, so it was all good. Gabriel hesitated purposefully for a second before spiralling around and opening fire.
Rune tensed as soon as she heard the sound.
It made things just that little bit scarier.

Jay:
Lookit, new lookups! -wiggles- ---
How the FUCK did she know his— …Oh yeah. Ticky had screamed it out before, hadn’t he? He had to have a talk with the little psycho, once this mess was over and done with… “It kills people, enslaves psychics and is planning on taking over the world someday.” Dean replied, his eyes never leaving the shadows before them. It was said simply; without any emotion or infliction in his voice. On the inside, however, his blood was pretty much boiling. So what if the world didn’t like him too much? And so what if he was wanted in a few states for murder- even though the ‘victim’ happened to be murderers themselves, but hey, that was the law for you- and no one ever gave a thought to thank him for what he did? This demon was not going to destroy his stomping ground, and… Well, he’d die if it did, so..yeah. It was all good. “My ass is not scrawny.” Dean growled as Rune proceeded to stare at him, grumbling something about how Ticky wasn’t going to live to see his next birthday.
“Ooh, cheater!” Ticky crowed as Gabriel began to fire. “You were supposed to be backup!” Launching himself forward- though he managed to keep himself to the side of the ex-assassin’s spray of bullets- he whipped out his favorite pistol and pulled the trigger, loving the way the automatic spat out the amo with an almost musical keen. The shadow, which had solidified as they’d begun throwing insults at one another, charged forward, morphing into the twisted form of a man. Its skin was pale and eyes a dull red, and the clothes it had on was disheveled and torn.
Seeing the ‘monster’, Dean cursed. It wasn’t THE demon…but it was damn scary enough. “Shoot it in the head, for chrissakes!” He called out, stopping by a gravestone. Using it as a table, he pulled out an old, creased leather journal and quickly thumbed through it. Minor demons, minor demons…aha, there it was! Holy water and incantations. But they had to capture it first… “Keep it busy, Ticky.” He called out. Moving to a fresh grave, he reached into his pocket, bringing out a bag of white powder. Quickly spreading the crushed chalk into a circle, he began tracing symbols along the edges.
“Easier said than done, Asshole!” Ticky called back. The demon, taking their fire like a pro, smiled a rotten-toothed grin at them before rushing forward again. Its hand swept out, catching the soldier across the wrist, trying to knock the younger man down. Poor thing. It didn’t know that touching the Time Bomb was a real no-no. With a battle cry, he threw himself forward as his gun left the now numb clutches of his hand. Free one whipping around to free the large bowie knife he carried everywhere, he proceeded to rip a nice little hole in the thing’s neck, leaving a gaping, bloody wound. …Whoa, demons bled? How friggin awesome was that! “Watch those bullets, Gabie-poo!” He screamed, as the demon stumbled back into the other man’s line of fire. “Shoot it, not me! I wanna LIVE!”

ooc| eee, pretty! -oggles-
mrf. sorry i took so long with replying. >>; had a really hectic post-exams week. andandand. it's my birthday in ten days time. =D
bic| "Helpful," she murmured in a semi-sarcastic voice. "I don't think I've ever heard of a "demon" that isn't violent in one way or another." She sounded a lot calmer than she felt. She definitely didn't feel like herself, that was for sure. Under normal circumstances, she'd be a lot more jittery. More childlike, in all honesty. She felt overly mature. But whatever. It was helping her situation.
Sort of.
"I dunno, I think I'd have to agree with Ticky there," Rune said, hiding her smirk terribly. "That's a scrawny arse I see." From saying "arse" it was easier to teller that her oddly accented voice, the mixture of Englsh and American, that she leaned more towards the English accent. And vocabulary for that matter. To her, an "ass" was a type of donkey. Or something along those lines, she wasn't entirely sure.
"I don't do well as backup," Gabriel answered after the roar of his shots. "I'm a team player, but one who likes to get into the thick of things. Have a little fun and stuff. Anyway, I dun want that thing suddenly leaping at me at and biting my head off. Not that I'd let it, but that's not the point. Plus you warned me about it."
Gabriel was careful to keep his line of fire away from anything - or anyone - that was on his side, such as Ticky. He frowned at the "demon", his lazy, laidback expression melting entirely. Had the demon not had red eyes and had the demon not more or less materialized from the shadows, he'd've thought it was just a normal person. A tramp, perhaps, but still.
Rune tensed as she heard Dean swear, getting the impression that this wasn't what he was after. She pursed her lips, raising her own weapon, quickly scanning around to see if there was anything else menacing around. She could feel her hairs on the back of her neck rise, and she could feel goosebumps rising beneath her jacket. It was at this point she realised that her headache was gone. Weird.
Nothing else evil was hanging around, it would have appeared. Rune supposed she was probably wrong, but for the moment, that didn't matter.
Listening to Dean's comment on shooting the demon through the head, Gabriel stopped his arsenal, taking a brief second to align his gun and aim. That wasn't a very good second, because something clipped him in the back of the head, sending him reeling forwards.
"Whoever did that, it's not the 'effing time," he snarled, appearing unaffected by the whack. However, he heard a gun fire directly behind him, followed by a sharp, loud, and very irritable, shout.
"GABRIEL, HEADS!"
Gabriel shot down to the ground at hearing Rune's voice, the bullet just whistling past his head and disappearing, swallowed by darkness. He swore loudly and vehemently, rolling over and picking himself up in a swift movement, glaring wildly at Rune.
"What the fuck?"
An eloquent question.
"There was a demon, or something, behind you. It's what hit you. I'm surprised that didn't knock you out. I was going for its head, but it... err, disintergrated? Iunno, ask him." Rune jerked her head in Dean's direction. "I don't know what demon's do when they disappear suddenly like that." She grinned impishly. "Good thing you have fast reactions."
Gabriel didn't answer. He merely turned around, opening fire again on the demon as it struggled with Ticky. At the sound of Ticky's request, Gabriel just grinned, which for him was a good promise of "No, I won't shoot you though I bet Dean would wish that I did".
"Just don't get in the way, Ticky-boo!"
