She'd seen better days.
The evening began to crawl over the horizon, setting down an amber glow across the streets. Her opaque eyes briefly flicked upwards to the main entrance, where a waitress was faffing around, prepping herself to welcome anyone who entered and check for reservations. It was her first night on the new job, and was very careful to take heed of whispers that the owner was a bit snappish.
Hikari Dresden snorted into her glass of water, poking at the final strip of tuna on her small, circular plate, hiding a smirk behind her hand. Yes, she was a strict and sometimes harsh owner. But she'd turned down several other girls in giving this girl, standing at the door, the job. If it turned out that that was a waste, then Hikari would fire her. Simple. She'd then hire one of the other girls.
"Fair's fair," she murmured, deftly hoisting the tuna into her mouth with her neat chopsticks. That done, she slid off the tall bar stool, taking her plate back to the kitchens. The aroma of both raw and cooked fish flooded her senses briefly, the overwhelming factor of it almost making her gag. She didn't know how the chefs could deal with the smells. Despite her definite love for seafood, the smell was a bit murderous.
Hikari - or Yui, if she wanted to be that tonight - was a no-nonsense person by nature. A little OCD with keeping things neat, and very composed. As usual she was dressed conservatively, with a simple black A-line fold over skirt and lacy white camisole. Her fine, black hair was tied back into a pony-tail, her fringe hanging down to frame her oh-so rounded features which didn't give away her actual personality whatsoever.
Soon, the first customers were arriving as the evening fell into full swing. Hikari couldn't help but sigh in a semi-relieved, semi-irritated way. Another night of business was starting, with a voice softly project a Japanese song in the backdrop, several English words dropping in here and there.
"Can you keep a secret?"
