A pointed toed cream coloured Monolo Blahnik tapped impatiently on the wet gum-covered pavement outside the club. The owner sporting a displeased expression to be wearing the expensive shoes given the terrible weather. It had been an overcast day and finally just a few hours after sunset the bit of drizzle that had been on and off all day broke in to a full-fledged downpour. Steam rose up from the sewage vents and that odour combined with the sheer scent of rain made the woman's nose crinkle. She'd been waiting there for some time and was looking quite anxious, eyes alternating from the fine silver watch on her wrist to the various cabs driving by now and then. It was a pretty busy night, a good line up for Sotto Voce.
Moments passed and finally a cab pulled up nice and close to the curb, causing a splash that made the woman shift her weight backwards, though she remained quite dry under the awning. She recognized the cab's occupant immediately and her face sunk when she realized the man was unaccompanied. No clients. No Jack. Just Zuri Baker, the beanpole of a kid who was pretty cute if he didn't look like he was ten years her junior. He was in fact only five, but she always found he had a baby face. He was dressed nicely, an Armani blazer probably, though it was several seasons old, plain black dress pants and simple black dress shoes. He really did need a raise, the poor guy.
She on the other hand was as polished as humanly possible. Along with the pointed heels came a tweed pencil skirt and a nude coloured silk blouse, the former clinging on to her rounded hips and the top further enhancing her already quite full chest. Pearl drop earrings hung loosely from her ear lobes, camouflaging themselves in her dark auburn hair which she left loose, a surprise move since she usually kept it up. Her puckered lips were painted the customary red hue and eyelashes coated with a soft brown mascara that made her sea-foam green eyes pop.
Zuri met her concerned gaze with a sincerely apologetic smile as he hopped out of the cab and darted underneath the awning and out of the rain. He seemed completely unphased by the knockout red head next to him. He had, after all seen her every single day for the last four months or so. And it never was a good idea to fraternize with co-workers too much. Under normal circumstances, he'd be a drooling idiot like the rest of the lot, he was most positive. Maybe in a different place, or some other time perhaps.
"Sorry Ev. Jack's got a family thing, you know how it is. It'll just be us two tonight! Oh, and the clients. They /should/ be on their way from their hotel shortly. I think Mr. Edwards needs to buy a lapel... or something equally as frivolous." he said energetically, smiling kindly as he shook a little water off his jacket. "You look nice by the way."
Evelyn smiled, tugging a piece of hair behind her ear. "That's alright. I sort of expected as much. And I know, I printed him out directions to that department store he wanted to visit earlier today." she said airily, turning now to go in the the dimly lit club, past the bouncer. "And thank you Mr. Baker. You don't look so bad yourself." There wasn't a trace in her tone that she cared one way or another whether or not their employer, Jack, showed up. But in her mind a tally was placed in the ever-expanding column of let downs in her life. There would be hell to pay much later, she was damn sure of it.
ooc| WOW LONG. Sorry.
