"Congrats," she replied, a tad more impressed than she'd usually be. Maybe it was 'cause she'd rather taken a liking to this guy, maybe it was because he was the only company she had. "What'd you major in?" She had no idea she'd be dealing with someone so.. scholared. She herself was planning to go to CalArts for acting, but compared to someone who graduated from MIT, this seemed to be rather little and useless.

"Finance, but I dabbled a bit in advertising too. Helped me get my job now, actually. As terrible as it is." He took any opportunity he could to bash the hell on earth he'd been working in, degrading work that mostly consisted of him doing coffee runs. His long arms raised heavenward, stretching himself out which made him absurdly resemble an elastic band, smiling crookedly a he did so. "What are you planning to do once you, well, escape it all?"

"I was, well, I'm not sure," she admitted, hating her blood as it rushed to her cheeks, turning them scarlet. "I was hoping maybe to get into a job in theater, or maybe acting. I'm not all that sure though," she added. "That's basically every girl's dream, so what makes me so different?" Changing the subject quickly, she added, "What job d'you have?"

"Corporate Grunt." he sighed heavily, letting his limbs fall back to his sides with a bit of a thump. "In other words, I suppose, it's an executive assistant post. Ad agency and what not. THAT whole scene." He frowned, rubbing his hands on his clean shaven chin irritably. He was quiet for a few moments, eyes so electric green they may have burnt a hole through the tree he was gazing at. "But... acting! That's pretty cool. I mean, if you've got any talent." His face softened, giving her a playful smile.

"Oh, I'm absolutely amazing," she replied in a lofty tone. "I'm the next... next..." She could almost feel him laughing as she attempted to come up with a famous actress's name. "Next big thing," she finally replied weakly. "Actually, I don't think I'm all that good, but I've got self esteem issues. Other people tell me I'm decent." She laughed. "Aw. Basically a job that means getting people's coffee and all that?"

"Coffee, ideas to rip off, you name it. But, hey! I'm sure you'd be great. The next..Lindsey Lohan even! Just do some terrible acting and go on a coke binge and you'll roll in the dough." he filled the blank in for her, beaming. Zuri was going to comment of her lack of self esteem, but kept his mouth shut. Saying something like, 'But you seem pretty confident.' would not help the situation , he knew all too well. He'd be too much of a hypocrite when it came to words of wisdom on that particular subject.

"Yeah," she replied with a laugh, "the next Lindsay Lohan. Minus the orange tan and walking into jail with coke in my pocket." She looked at him for a moment, tilting her head to the side. "If you don't really like it, why work there?" she asked.

"You betcha." he laughed, relaxing. Her considered her question for a while beofre he replied. "Well, it's like a stepping stone. A place to start. Good connections, get close to the right people. That sort of thing." He wasn't sure if it sounded very rational, and he supposed it wasn't. The margin of sucess for someone in his position in the company was extremely slim. But if he made it there, he could make it anywhere, or so he thought.

"Makes sense," she replied sensibly. She wished she had something stable like that in her life--once she was done with high school, she was going to college... but then what? Was there a spot somewhere that she would find? Or would she forever be waiting for this 'big break' and waste her life? She closed her eyes briefly and took a deep breath. Thinking about the future panicked her.

"Yeah it's... alright." he shrugged. "It doesn't leave me with a lot of spare time, ya know? It's like a 8-9 sorta job. Not exactly what I signed up for." He was silent for a moment, lost in his own thoughts, and walked a good distance without uttering so much as a word. "But, you, know. Not to dwell on unpleasantries." he said finally, smiling faintly.

"Exactly," she replied. "And... it sounds strange, probably, but I don't want a normal, nine to five job the rest of my life. It kind of scares me, thinking that I might just live some average, everyday life. I want something different." She looked up at the trees above for a moment before taking a deep breath. "But I'll take a leaf outta your book. Stop dwelling on the unpleasantries." She fell quiet, wondering how to stop the sudden silence that had fallen.

He felt the silence uncomfortable, grasping for something to say was taking effort. While Alice choose to look up, he gazed down, focusing on the gravel crunching beneath his sneakers. "You.. do much besides school?" he asked lamely, small frown displaying his distaste for his own words.

"Well," she replied evenly, "I like to sing, I guess. I take walks a lot, listen to music. I go over to this theatre workshop about three times a week, and usually during the school year I've got some musical or another. Oh, and I take pointe and I can tapdance." Thinking back on what she just said, she nearly laughed. She just sounded so random.

He straight out laughed, amused by her descriptive and well rounded response. "My sister, she dances." he said with a nod. "Like.. hip hop stuff. A lot of girls do I guess. Theastre is good. I never got in to any of that in highschool."

"Yeah, I never got into hiphop much. I'm much more of a rock and roll kind of girl, with a splash of heavy metal to keep things interesting. Funnest thing in the world, choreographing pointe to Mindless Self Indulgence or something like that."
ooc; s'okay, i'm short now too. XD
